4% hydroquinone--inexpensive!

Question
Thanks for that info!

Answer
Anyone know how the 4% hydroquinone compares to the Clear in the tiny bit of fine flaking under my nostrils (just enough to look attractive--like I had to wipe my mmh/product/rhinoplasty/index.vm?procid=10" target=_blank>nose )...There were a few flakes here or there (but not consistently) around my 'crow's feet and nasolabial fold area. Personally I've had very little flaking elsewhere...BUt I had been using TrueRadiance products consistantly for some time, as well as the Janssen Beckett /mmh/product/beauty/alphaderma/index.vm?procid=13&catid=682" target=_blank>alphadermaCE stuff really religiously, as well as .05% REtinA--graduated to .1% when I started Obagi. Maybe my face was already 'conditioned' or perhaps I just have tough mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>skin? For the past 2 weeks I haven't really been flaking at all...If I rub on my face or scratch it(which you are told not to do ), some light flaking that looks like dandruff might 'fly off'. I had been using bare minerals mmh/product/makeup/index.vm?procid=54" target=_blank>makeup after the first 4-5 days of that major chin flaking--nothing covered that--but now my skin is so smooth with a slight pink glow, I only use mmh/product/eyelidsurgery/index.vm?procid=6" target=_blank>eyemakeup and blush and lipstick. this whole combo did make quite a noticeable difference in only three weeks. I can't give up the trueradiance! I still use it on the mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>wrinkled/potentially wrinkled areas twice per day. And I like her new eye mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>cream--just tried it . As far as golf, as long as you wear your hat/visor (I love those things!) use the 45 mmh/product/beauty/sunscreen/index.vm?procid=13&catid=304" target=_blank>sunscreen (and reapply as necessary --if you are sweating or in the strong sun a long time)--you should be ok...also, I just read about a 'new' kind of makeup that supposedly can be used after all kinds of procedures/mmh/product/chemicalpeel/index.vm?procid=4" target=_blank>peels/etc... http://www.lycoscience.com" target="_blank">www.lycoscience.com I'm going to look it up now. The 2% really didn't do anything much for me at all. But at the beginning of this thread, there's a website to order the 4% fairly inexpensively...you only need a tiny bit (less than the size or a pea or pearl) for each application, so it really does last for a very long time! Good luck! (Can you tell I am soo awake and energized in the morning and dead in the evening?)BR, Chin/Neck Lipo 6/29/2005; BR revisions and lipo 5/24/2006

Hi ya -
you only need a pea size? How much area does that cover? Do you apply to your entire face?
Ever notice how the bleaching creams turn brownish once you open them and the air hits them? Wonder why.

Answer
That will cover your whole face! You only need a thin layer, and it 'spreads out' very easily and quickly. If you have particular dark spots, (melasma, for instance), you can put an additional layer on just those spots when the first one dries. " Depigmentation is not immediate since hydroquinone interferes only with the new formation of brown spots results are seen in approximately three weeks. " I saw results sooner..and it did affect the whole texture of my face in a positive way.
As for your other question....
Hydroquinone is a bleaching ingredient that will oxidize when exposed to air and light causing the product to turn dark brown. It's like cutting an apple and watching it turn brown as it is exposed to air. Bleaching products naturally turn light to dark brown when exposed to air or sunlight this does not interfere with the two year efficacy of the product.
Caroline, where are you from? I love that name...wanted to name my child Caroline ever since hearing the Neil Diamond song while growing up...but I ended up with Jessica and Jaimee.
If the color change bothers you, the way it is packaged will make a difference. If it comes in a tube, or the way the Obagi comes (an upside down plastic bottle) it is less likely to turn brown then if it was in a jar.BR, Chin/Neck Lipo 6/29/2005; BR revisions and lipo 5/24/2006

Answer
LookinUp, sounds like I'm on the same products as you were before the Obagi.
I'm from MA.
I did try the new eye mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>cream from trueradiance and I love it!!
Thanks for all the info, and I will check out the 4%---you're right, just about the same as the Obagi Clear.

Answer

Answer
Hi, that's funny, probably the Boston accent
When I go away or when I'm on the phone with someone I don't know, they are constantly saying "You're from Boston, aren't you"
I kept some people amused in Aruba a few years ago. We were all at "happy hour" and this man that I didn't know, kept coming over to me and asking me to say "park the car" He said his whole group loved my accent--I never knew I had an accent--always loved other people's accents.

Answer
I feel like a man without a country! My Boston friends say I have a chicago accent, and my Chicago friends say I sound like a Kennedy (especially after I get off of the phone with my mother!)BR, Chin/Neck Lipo 6/29/2005; BR revisions and lipo 5/24/2006

Answer
Hi Lookinup --
Thanks for the info on the HQ - when you say it affects new brown spots, will it also bleach those I already have tho?
Funny you are in Chicago. I am in NJ - and heading out to Chicago next week - to attend my younger brother's 2nd wedding. He has been out there for 2.5 years - job transfer. Met his bride last June. He originally was in Naperville, but they bought a home in Geneva. He LOVES it out there!!
I am looking forward to seeing the area.
Beth

Answer
That was a quote from another website...it absolutely did take care of the freckles I've had since 5, and a melasma spot on my lower side of my jaw. The top layers of mmh/product/beauty/index.vm?procid=13" target=_blank>skin slough off continuously and the darkness goes with them. The hydroquinone will prevent the excess melanin from forming after that..and prevent any new darkness. (I think, from what I've read). Geneva is nice...kind of 'country'....I have friends in Naperville too....(supposedly the best place in the US to raise a family according to some magazine)....I live in the NW burbs...(But I wouldn't mind being in NY or Jersey...my kids want me to move there, since they both think they'll end up in NYC, and my brother lives in Manhattan). I'm originally a Bostonian, and even though I've lived here since 1980 (grad school at Northwestern), I STILL miss the east coast!

Answer
I think I would miss being able to go to the beach - if I was out in the midwest, but I don't get down to the Jersey shore much anymore anyway. My brother will probably never come back, LOVES Illinois. One thing for sure - the cost of living is far more reasonable. I would like that part of it - and as I have heard it is a great area to raise a family. I am looking forward to my trip.
