A mental trick I use is to come up with3 potential solutions to any 'problem' (i.e. I thought "but I can't ___________" fill in the blank with whatever thing I don't want to face/want to avoid).
I may not *like* any of the solutions, but making myself come up with them reinforces the idea that can't usually isn't true. I can choose not to do a thing as a personal preference, but to do that I have to own it...take total responsibility for the choice. Then I can't whine about the outcome, or about not getting results that I didn't actually invoke.
There's a lot of personal power in taking 100% responsibility. A lot of freedom. A lot of joy.
