Motivation and some help

Question
I had BR on 11/17/05. I presently weight about 242 but will like to be down to atleast to 175 this size looked good on me even though i am 5'2. Atleast if I can get there i can lose another 25lbs. I have only been on the treadmill which I enjoyed i can look out at the scenery and just lose myself. I want to be under 200 before June. If I stay on the treadmill will it be helpful with overall body or just the legs. I don't want to do weight trainer really i don't want to gain muscle i just want to lose the weight. It is so hard for me to stay on a nutrion diet. Please can someone give me any suggestions on what to do. I really need my gutt to go. Thanks in advance.

Answer
Pat yourself on the back for taking the hardest step in making a comittment to lose weight and get healthy. Keep the exercise up as many days as you can for at least 30 minutes. Something that is working for me is Weight Watchers core plan. It shows you the things to eat that keep you satisfied but are good for you. The basic plan is no sugar and starches limited to once a day.
Good luck and remember we are all here doing the same thing.

Precious,
I used to weigh 286 lbs and am now down to 173. I think walking on a treadmill is great. It will burn calories and help tone your legs and rear, especially if you increase your grade and walk slightly up hill.
As for not wanting to weight train, I say "ok" if you really don't want to that is up to you. But in my experience, you don't gain weight or size from it, weight training will allow you to decrease in size. The more you tone your muscle, the better your going to look when you get to 175. Not sure how young you are but I have some problem areas where the http://Picturetrail.com/hannahbanana41

I think you have already gotten some excellent advice. I just wanted to reenforce a couple of the points that have been made. Firstly, that taking the step to commit yourself is often the most difficult. It is also easier said than done. So give yourself a big pat on the back everytime that you get on the treadmill or head into the gym. Secondly, that weight training does not make you bulky. While, yes, you will build some muscle, it will be beneficial to you in the long run. Gaining some muscle is an important aspect that will actually help you to lose weight at a quicker pace. Also, by doing some weight or resistance training you will lose inches giving you an overall sleeker & healthier look.
Try not to put time constraints on yourself either. It is really easy to get discouraged if you say you want to lose X amount of weight by June 1st & then only lose Y amount. I lost over 125 pounds with weight watchers by eating right & exercising. It took me 2 years to do so. Best wishes to you!

Answer
My turn.
I want to also reinforce what Christine said about the time contraints.
Why make it a race? If you take it slow, you'll be more likely to stick to it.
If you expect too much too soon, you may quit.
Why not go slow, lose 50 pounds in two years (if thats what it takes).
Who knows, you may try to go too fast, and end up burning out, quitting, and that 2 years will go by regardless, but you could end up 50 pounds heavier if you ended up quitting or burning yourself out.
Make sense? I never know how to put this into words.

Thank you so much to everyone. I didn't mean for it to sound like i have to lose it by June. (Well I guess it did sound like that LOL) I didn't mean for it to be. But after losing my breasts I am noticing my stomach poke out more and since I am going on vacation I just wanted to look better with my new found breasts. If I lose 10 compared to what I want to lose that will still make me happy.
I will look into weight trainer thank you all for your advice. I tried WW before but it didn't seem like it was for me because most of the things I had to eat I didn't really like. I am a VERY picky eater so that I is why I relied on fast food or the quick things in the kitchen. I just need to be able to eat what I like (smaller portions of course) so whenever I do stop the program I will be able to keep it up. I am very lazy and I am trying to do better (which is the first step). I have a lot of stress and sometimes it doesn't help.
Well i have rambled on again. Thanks again so much for everything. I will try to come to this site everyday for lots more insight.

Answer
Not to try to convince you of anything, as we all find different things that work for each of us as individuals & no plan works for everyone. However, I did want to let you know that you can eat anything you want on WW. It sounds like maybe you tried it many years ago since I know their really old plans laid out what foods you could eat. They came out with the first version of points in like 1998 or 1999 & when they introduced that plan it was about being able to eat anything in moderation. They have slightly revised it a couple times since then, but it is still the same premise. I couldn't handle having anything that was off limits or having to be on a strict diet that told me how to eat. I have tried those in the past & they always resulted in losing a bit & then gaining it back plus some! WW literally saved my life by allowing me to eat anything I wanted & still lose weight.

Answer
thanks again. Yes when I tried WW it was many years ago. and about 5 years ago a co worker that joined purchased a plan that had all of the places that you can eat I never used it and at this moment can't find out where it is. How much do they cost? Is it the same as their online program as it is in person. Do you know if there is a difference between WW and LA I think you are referring to the dining out guide. That doesn't list all the places you can eat as you can eat anything, anywhere. However, the guide is a helpful tool if you are on WW as it lists the points values at many restaurants. The online program is the same as in person. There are a lot of tools available to those that are online. I always went in person so the only online tools I used from WW were the message boards which are free to everyone on WW or not. There are a lot of other useful & free sites for people on WW as well. The thing about going in person is that once you make lifetime you can weigh in every month & as long as you are not more than 2 pounds over goal weight you do not pay anything. So it is a good check for me to keep me on track. Right now I am 6 pounds up from goal so if I don't get back down at least 4 pounds I will have to pay when I go for my next weigh in.
As for pricing, I know it varies by center, but weekly meeting fees are $12 at mine. Online is $19.95 a month if I do recall correctly. There is also WW at home where you get everything sent to you once & go at it yourself. I don't remember how much that is, but it has all the dining out guides & such. If you were buy the dining out guide at a center I think it was around $10, but that would only be a good tool for someone following points.
I don't know much about LA weightloss really. I have had two girlfriends start out with it & not finish. They both said they try to sell you supplements & bars. That you pay up front based on how much weight you need to lose & that you go in like twice a week. That's all I really know. Someone is free to correct me if I am wrong.
