Re: Breast Reduction in June

Question
How long did your recovery take. . . my doctor told me about 4-6 weeks is that about right?

Answer
As far as recovery goes, I think it's depends on the individual. I feel good now and it has only been 2 weeks and a few days. I felt good enough to return to work after 1 week but I waited 2 weeks. I still have bruising but the pain is practically non-existent. Some days I have small shooting pains and my nipples are very sensitive but some days I feel nothing at all. I'm not down-playing the surgery because of it is major surgery but I really didn't feel like I had surgery. Just like I had been sleep all morning.

Answer
I had my surgery in Sept. I had to wait 6 weeks to go back to work, but I am required to lift 50 lbs at work. I felt fine after a few days, still sore and lifting my arms was not my fave thing to do, but overall I felt great. I did get tired easily though. THat lasted a couple of months. I had a lot of numbness around the incision sites, and the nipples were tender for about 6 months. The numbness is finally gone, and the nipples only feel tender if they get hit.
I did develop insomnia after a couple of weeks. I think that's because I slept a lot those first few days.
When I had the surgery done and was coming to, I did hurt a lot then. They gave me something and it took away most of the pain. I still hurt for the first few days, but it wasn't bad. When they took the drainage tubes out, that actually hurt more. The first one surprised me because it felt like I could feel the entire length of the tube as it came out. Those tubes are long! Mine basically went to my armpit.
I am so glad I had this done. Talk about a weight off your chest!
