Pimples after Rhinoplasty

Question
Hi Folks.

Anyone get pimples on the nose after rhinoplasty? I't been 5 months now since the surgery and I keep getting them, and some just won't go away. There is one on the tip that cannot go away, its been two weeks already.

I use some pimple ointment, but that doesn't work.

Also, the skin on the nose seems oily, anyone notice this?

thanks in advance.

Answer
hmm...im about to have a rhinoplasty and i havent encountered this issue through my research thus far. If youre not treating your skin on your nose any differently to the rest of your face i dont understand why you would get pimples there and no where else. Are you touching your nose alot? i know that when ppl touch there face alot it can lead to spots because your spreading the oil/ bacteria from your finger tips onto your face.

Answer
Hi John

Yes, I am getting them too. I just had my rhinoplasty on May 3 and shortly after I got my splint off, I started breaking out. They are not huge pimples, more like little tiny ones all over the nose. I'm sorry to hear it's been 5 months for you and you're still getting them though. That doesn't make me feel much better. And yes, my skin has seemed to be more oily.
I have been steaming my facefor the last week over the kitchen sink to open the pores and then using a gentle exfoliant on the nose, applying cold water to close the pores and then applying Proactiv treatment. It seems to have gotten slightly better. I do notice that I'm touching my nose more and like Ruby said, that's not the best thing to be doing. Good luck. I hope they go away for you (and me) soon!

Answer
Yeah Kewky, they’re not like pimples, just tiny bumps and the odd pimple. Common sense tells me that its because of the fact that the nerves were damaged during surgery and until fully recovered they cannot repair the tissue as well as before.

I’m going to try the steam method, and even try Proactiv, is it really as good as they say?

Its true, I do tend to touch my face too much, its a habit that I'm trying break.

Anyway, thanks ladies for your comments.

take care.

Answer
Hey John

I really like Proactiv, I've been using it for a few years. I used to have cystic acne, mostly on the chin, and it's worked really well keeping those away.
BTW, how did your nose turn out? Are you happy with the result?
