Re: Breast Reduction

Question
greeneyedgirl18.....I am so sorry I did not get back to you sooner haven't been on the computer much. When I had the surgery my insurance paid for all of it because it was medically needed. I have heard the same thing that you have too if it is just simply cosmetic then they want. considering your size and job and they are causing you problems I think yours would be considered medically needed. If I was you I would set up an appointment with a good dr. and talk to them let them examine you and tell you what they think and they can most likely tell you if your insurance will cover you.
Good Luck if you have anymore question please ask I will do my best to help you by telling you about my surgery.

Answer
Thanks for getting back to me! This is something I've always wanted to do, but I always meet opposition from everybody I talk to. I've never knew anybody personally who has had it done so most of my info comes from the internet.

Oddly enough, I'm not THAT concerned about scarring (I'd keep these babies tucked away even if they were smaller)! My mom, who is insanely old school is 100% against me getting the surgery done. Anyway, my questions are more about long term effects. I'm not even close to having children, but I was wondering what it is like if you get the reduction before having them. Obviously I wouldn't want these things returning back to how they were before, so I was thinking maybe it was best to wait off until having kids? How is breast feeding affected? I assume it's on a case by case basis. Anyway, thanks for your time-I really like hearing from people who have been through the procedure!

Oh yeah, as for recovery time....how long did it take for you? I'd definitely have it done during the summer, since I'm off from work then---but I hope I wouldn't be chained to my house for the entire time. I suppose it would be worth it though-just thinking about the "gals" being smaller puts a smile on my face!

Answer
I always wanted to be smaller when I was younger and playing sports but my parents wouldn't even talk about it. So when I got married had a son I decided I would tell my husband about my idea of being smaller and he was really supportive of the idea.I am so glad I did it.
On having kids and getting bigger my dr told me they would swell and be alittle bigger but if I continued working out after the baby that they would tighten back up he said I would never be that big again unless I just let myself go and gained 200lbs I have talked to some women that was able to breast feed after the surgery.
I had my surgery in Feb my scars look really good but I am like you not really stressing over them but I do put on my mederma 3x's a day. Recovery was a breeze to me 6 week recovery time first week mostly tired but no real pain just trouble sleeping (I sleep on my stomach and side) the second felt better dr told me I do walk not fast and get all sweaty when I went back for my 4 week I was back to full workout (I just didn't tell the dr.) I judged what I did on how I felt doing it simply if it hurt stop.
The surgery is the best decision I could of made since then I have lost almost 40lbs and 6 pants sizes and to date I have NO back pain !! If you do have this surgery I wish you the best.

Answer
greeneyedgirl18- I just had breast reduction surgery 9 days ago and had all the worries that you did. I was so afraid that my insurance wouldnt cover my surgery and what not. What you need to do is make a appointment with the plastic surgeon and let him/her examine you like they did me. They will ask questions take pictures and submit a claim to your insurance who can take as much as up to 4 weeks to make a decision but will inform you either way. My insurance picked up the whole thing and covered even 2 days of hospitialization. So I would see a good PS and start the process.....it can be a long process......think mine took 4 months from start to finish. Also I am 26 years old and havent had any children yet...and all the ps told me is that I run a risk of them getting bigger...it depends how much I gain during my pregnancy and how much I lactate. I went from a G Cup to a small C Cup......I figure this way if I jump up a size during pregnancy and never go back down I can still deal with a small D cup. Talk to your plastic surgeon as he or she will tell you whats best for you...well I hope I was helpful and that I really gave you something to think about......well whatever you do here's wishing all the best!

Oh and as for recovery time it all depends.....I am a quick healer I guess. I have been post-op fror 9 days and have been walking around, shopping, going to the zoo. I am even looking to go back to work sometime next week. however the average revovery time is 4 weeks it can be longer or shorter based on ur individual progress!
