Re: Breast Reduction

Question
tami52100- thanks for your post it was really reassuring. I am having my breast reduction surgery in a week...and I am so nervous. I just had my pre-op appointment which helped ease some of my fears...he is doin it later in the evening and having me admitted and what not so atleast If I am in real pain the first night I am at the hospital so I can get administered the "good drugs" Well I am sure that I will be ok and know that in the end things will be so much better. Once again thanks for the story it made me feel better about going through this next week!

Answer
You are so welcome I know you are going to be happy with the results. I had to be in at 6 in the morning and I remember laying there thinking OMG this is it I am finally doing it I was so nervous but couldn't wait to see the results it looked really nasty at first but I didn't see that all I seen was SMALL.
Good Luck on your surgery take it easy a few days and then start doing small stuff ( I push myself to hard sometimes but i recover faster than most because of it) In a few months when you go and buy your FIRST bra it is a feeling that is so good I still smile when I think about when i put my old bra on and the way it looked .
Anyway Good luck hope all goes well far you.

Answer
Yea thanks a lot for your post. I went to see my doctor the other day about getting the referral. she gave me a hard time about it. she said i could stop my back pain by exercising.... she has no boobs and is a stick. she doesnt know what its like to be 5'2 and have 40DD boobs. She eventually gave it to me. She was trying to scare me out of the idea. I'm sorry but i am 21 and suffering back pains... wait till i go to have kids with these boobs....

Answer
That is really sad she tried to scare you out of it. I have to say my dr. was great he completely understood my complaints. You said you was 21 when I was in high school I was a starter on my HS basketball team my bra was a 36DD Then I had my son and they got bigger I am a complete health nut I worked out all the time and they never got smaller. So the whole excercise thing made me look horrible small waist hips and them wham the boobs, but after the surgery I fit together now nothing is extremely out of perportion now. Again I hope you enjoy the results as much as I have mine.
You will be a new person

Answer
I am considering a breast reduction and I was curious as to the costs. I am 23, have 32DDD and I HATE THEM! I play sports and am a PE teacher, so you can imagine that they get in the way, a lot. I've been experiencing shoulder pains and in general they do not make me happy....my mother was apparently slightly smaller than I am now and after having 2 kids she's huge...needless to say with my job and lifestyle, I can't have that!

I've been thinking about the reduction for a few years now but it's difficult because most of my friends are B's and say I'm crazy (I guess the grass is always greener).

Anyway, I've heard some conflicting things on how much this surgery is. In some research I've been told that if it's a medical necessity (I guess that includes back problems and what not) then insurance covers it, but sometimes it's considered "cosmetic" and I have to pay for the whole thing.

Does anybody have some light that they can shed on this? As much as I want this done I'm also a grad student so I can't exactly spend thousands at this point in my life. Any info is appreciated!
