Answer
Lot's of people have had success with Atkins. But it is a lifestyle change, not a short-term solution.

There are also a number of low carb plans that are less restrictive than Atkins.

Most importantly, if you decide to following any of these plans, get the author(s)' book and read it first, then follow the plan as outlined.

Answer
IF you choose to Use Atkins then it should be for the long term...as Judy said.

Atkins will have you lose a lot of Water weight in the first 2 weeks...so it decieves you into believing that it works better.

Personally I do not believe that Atkins is a Good safe Diet plan to use. Before making a decision you should do your research and be aware of the possible side effects. you should make an informed decision.

Atkins Still Works on the Same premise as everyother diet out there.....Eating Less Calories. you can still gain weight on atkins if you are eating more then you are burning. Low carb diets help you feel more full and have less cravings so you end up eating less.

I would suggest you concentrate more on GOOD carbs rather then LOW Carbs, or as in Atkins case almost NO Carbs.

Answer
I've been doing Atkin's since April 25. I've lost about 7 pounds and I have much more energy and just feel better. I probably would have lost a lot more, but I like to indulge with vodka/selzer twist of lemon.

My weight is slowly coming off now. My tastes have changed too. In the past I bascially ate pasta, salad, chicken, and bread...I figured this was a low-fat, no red meat "healthy" diet....I no longer think that...in fact I now think that's terrible and contributes to a lot of health problems....I know this because I was overweight.

Eating low carb has given me the energy to work out and feel better. My learned advice is this: give up the sugar and white flour products...it is the only way to permanent weight loss. Stick to lean meats and veggies...after a while you WILL enjoy it...trust me, your tastes change. Detox yourself, and your body will adjust. Get away from what is poisoning you and making you FAT. Stick to NATURAL FOODS. Start now, do research, aren't you sick of being miserable. Forget diet pills...learn to eat efficiently and normally....change your life for good!!

I can't stress enough how refined sugar and flour are making us overweight. Forget the low-fat crap foods out there...start eating lean meats and low starch veggies and you will lose weight. Also start drinking lots of WATER!!!!!

Yes, I have say low carb is working for me...in fact it's changed my life. For once I'm finally "thin" and I feel like I'm not even trying, almost amazed at times...because I've adjusted and changed my tastes, enjoy what I'm eating, never feel unsatisfied or like I'm "dieting"... but it didn't happen overnight. I feel like I've finally "got it right" when it comes to being "thin". Low carb is definitely the way to go IMO.
