Help with food plans and diet

Question
Hi, i was hoping i could get some suggestions of what foods and meals i could eat to help me lose weight. I have been trying for the past month and have had no success, i have also had about 2 bad weeks because of just feeling really depressed.

We mainly have asian dishes in our house and chapatties and i want to try stay away from them.

I was thinking i could eat boiled rices and veg and then maybe some baked fish and veg. I really dont kno. I want to stay away from pasta and potatoes to begin with because i love them and i want to try change my taste buds and then introduce the pasta and potatoes slowly.

Its just when i think of dieting all i can think of eating is pasta and potatoes and rice, so i dont know what else to eat.

Are noodles any good? I dnt really like the fish either, but i thought i just eat it. Sometimes i'm so depressed about my weight i just feel like starving myself.
I also eat scrambled egg whites when i really have no idea what to eat.
But i find it difficult because my tase buds are used to spicy foods.

I would appreciate any advice, thanx.

xx

Answer
Lai,

You're not being ignored but the scope of your question is so HUGE it's hard to form an answer.

Basically, if you are looking for weight loss, it pays to look at quantity rather than quality of food. Quantity is generally expressed in calories.
So if you keep your protein over 60 grams, then any mix of food you choose is fine, pasta rice and potatoes included, AS LONG AS they stay under a certain caloic total for the day (and week and month and year!)

Calorie counting has no use for "good" and "bad" foods, that's the stuff of fad diets. Only quantities and calories count! Eat more and gain...eat less and LOSE...unless you are writing a diet book!

Answer
nah, i didnt think i was being ignored, i just thought no1 could be bothered to answer, i dnt mind tho, because i cnt be bothered at the moment. I feel extreamly depressed so aint ate for a few days, just stay in bed for most of the days.

Anyway, thanks for your reply, i appreciate your advice, i will remember it for when i'm ready to start my battle with my weight again. Cheers.

Answer
you may already know this but by starving yourself you are just setting yourself up to gain more weight-your body will go into starvation mode and any foods you then eat will be clung onto, also your metablism will become slower making it harder for you to lose the weight, are you doing any exercisies? you need to watch your colorie intake. any weight loss you now occur is prob going to be water loss
hope this helps you to think of different ways
take care

Answer
Hi, thanx for the info lorrie, but i know everything about starvation mode and gaining back weight. I used to have (i think i still have) an eating disorder, so i kinda bin there done that if you know what i mean.

I haven't ate for the past few days because when i get depressed sometimes i lose my appetite. I stay in bed alot and dnt feel the need to eat. Thats what i meant by not having ate for a few days, i didnt mean i was intentially starving myself.

Thanx again for your reply. I dont do much exercise at the mo, i find it difficult to go out as i dnt want anyone to see me, but we should be getting a cross trainer tmrw (finally), so i'm gna work my *** off.

Thanx.
