As far as I'm aware Shin Splints are a sports injury.
ConcernedJeff I think your parents would probably want you to speak out if there is something wrong. It doesn't sound too good but I'm not qualified to say that - go to your doctor who is - even if its nothing you will have done the right thing, you won't be bothering anyone. Good luck !

But here it goes. Certain parts of my body (hands, feet, lets, arms)especially my hands, frequently turn to a dark blue/purple color, I mean they become so colored one wouldn't think they belonged to a human. They become quite cold. They also become numb. This has been happening more and more frequently. It used to happen only when I was cold/cool. Lately it happens now at a comfortable room temperature. Those are the facts. Some things that may also be happening: I usually always feel tired, discoordinated, dizzy, I have trouble talking in an articulate fassion, its almost like I am drunk. The drunkedness qualities are possibly just something in my mind, but the rest are facts. Am I going to be ok? Or am I in trouble? I appreciate any help, even if you aren't certain, I would be happy for any feedback. Thanks in advance.
I would schedule an appointment with your doctor asking for a general check up and bloodwork. I would then explain the situation to him. I would definitely recommend you get a complete blood count (cbc), and in particular have your bloodsugar (glucose) level checked. Some of the things you described (poor circulation in extremities, numbness, tiredness, dizzy, etc.) may be attributable to widely fluctuating bloodsugar levels and possibly diabetes. Do you have any other symptoms that could be caused by diabetes such as frequent urination or thirst? Also, what does your diet typically consist of?

Thanks again for the help. I am actually quite skinny myself. I don't think that is the only reason for my problem as like I said it is getting worse. I figured it to be a circulation problem, but I am not sure of how serious it is. I have had shin splints (cracking of shin bones from excessive excersise on hard surface)before, so either that isn't what I had or you have confused shin splints with something else. Probably me. My diet: well, I guess it is about as good as any other teenager. I guess I probably should find time to get to the Dr's. I would like to know how serious my condition is ASAP, and there is only one way to find out. Thanks again, and I would appreciate any more thoughts.
-Jeff
