So frustrated I could just cry

Question
Wow, I am so sorry that you have to put up with these unsympathetic unprofessionals!!
I find it truly disgusting that people in the medical business can be so rude and uncaring to people who are obviously suffering. If someone is going to work in a hospital or doctors office, they should just KNOW that they should be especially kind to the patients.. just as if they were dealing with a sick family member.
In my opinion, people should not become doctors if they don't even care about helping people.
If I were you, I would not go back there. It would be worth the money, to me, to just find another doctor. I mean, how can you go back after the way you've been mistreated?!
Again, I'm very sorry this has happened to you.. And I do hope you get better.
/Hugs!

Hi jim,
I've just read through your sad story and I'm disgusted. No wonder people take the law into their own hands when they are treated badly like this.
Perhaps you should write a letter to him personally and address the letter as private and confidential (register the letter also so he has to sign for it) and inform him that he just may be liable if this problem is not all in your head and is in fact genuine. Then look for another doc who treats you with respect and concern.
I really hope you get sorted out soon, you've certainly had a rough time.

Jim Brown,,
I know exactly what you mean. I had 2 surgeries ,one spot from tip of lung, then laminectomy,,said to remove damage from the first surgery. To make a long story short, ,,with the first surgery 4 years ago, the doc done something wrong and after two weeks I was in chronic pain and still am after 4 years.
The one doc I went to seen a paper in my records I took him, where I had talked to an attorney about being allergic to staples.
From that point on, I have been to many docs, and they just act like I imagine my pain, even though one doc wrote that I am disabled from surgery.
These docs pass the word along , even if there is nothing to it, and I guess I would have to see an " out of my town doc" to get any results..

I have been bounced around from doctor to doctor for over a month now. With each new doctor or specialist, there was a long waiting period, un-returned phone calls, rude and unsympathetic receptionists and/or nurses, lots of tests (some painful) and then onto the next doctor. After waiting a week for an appointment, he'll talk to me for about 2 minutes, scribble something down in his chart, crack a joke and then tell me to come back in a month or something. No help whatsoever and I walk away still in pain, feeling totally blown-off.
I have gotten to the point where I am totally exhausted , deeply depressed and feel like noone takes me seriously or even cares. I feel like a chicken at an egg-laying factory. With each new visit, the doctor gets a paycheck and I get nothing but a few pills and maybe a referral where the process repeats itself all over again and a new doctor makes a few bucks.
In this latest round, I went to see a urologist after waiting two weeks in agony. He did some simple tests and scheduled me to have an ultrasound (at another location). I had the ultreasound and was referred to a surgeon who basically laughed me out of his office. I then went to my GP who gave me some meds and referred me back to the urologist I had seen in the first place. The urologist's nurse told me on three separate occassion that she would have the urologist call me that evening or the next day. Each time I would wait until about the third day before calling back and when I did, he would always be "unavailable" or "out of the office". Finally, I got ahold of him and explained that I was in severe pain and he instructed me to call the receptionist the next morning and make an appointment for this week. Sooooo...this morning, I called the receptionist and she was very rude and told me that she would'nt do anything until she heard from the urologist and that they would call me. Attempts to explain to her that the urologist had TOLD me to make the appointment were futile and she just got more and more rude so I finally asked her to just have him call me and guess what?...as usual, he (nor anyone else there) has returned my call. What's even worse is that my problems would all be over if it was'nt for the fact that the urologist never called (as promised) to refill my prescription. My condition had begun to get better but thank's to that little slip up, now it's back again so I've probably built up some sort of anti-biotic resistance.
What's even worse yet is that he is the ONLY urologist within 100 miles who will accept my insurance so I'm pretty much stuck with him. He tells me I can make an appointment this week, his nurse tells me next week and the rude receptionist told me next month when I called her this morning so someone does'nt know what's going on around that place and they are starting to treat me as a nuisance and I don't know what to do.
I have a lipoma of the spermatic cord which is very painful and limits my movement and ability to have sex. I also have a long-standing urinary tract infection. Noone seems to be too anxious to do surgery or anything else for me and so I am perpetually stuck in the grinding mill of the great medical beaurocracy with no end in sight.
Gosh, please help me someone (ie; advice, share your own experience, etc.)

Good Golly Jim!
Whew! What a nightmare for you! Ever considered having an Attorney write a letter to this Urologist? Sounds like negligence too me! THAT might get his attention! I bet you are missing work from all of this too? An Attorney could tell you what to do. I would assume there is an American Board Of Certified Urologists, maybe you could call them, and ask for guidance, like how to file a formal complaint. I do agree with the other posts about explaining the situation to the insurance company, but make sure it is all in writing!
You might need that paper trail later! Also, I would start recording the phone calls, and even the conversations you have IN the Dr's office. But that's just me, I can get real nasty when I'm not treated right. What about going to the emergency room? They HAVE to deal with you!
Please keep us posted! And good luck, you hang in there!
