Answer
Hey there.. well, even though junk food may be the "norm" for teens, that does not mean its good for you! Just like smoking cigarettes is the norm for many groups of people, that does not make the health consequences any less real.

What to eat? Think about what our planet produces naturally, before human processing. Fruits! Vegetables! Nuts! Beans! Lean meat (organic and free-range, of course)! Yogurt!! (Well.. I know that dairy seems to be controversion when it comes to acne, but I've also heard places that yogurt is actually good for acne.. so, for the time being I eat it, as it doesnt seem to affect my skin).

As far as chocolate... I do not know. The only "healthy" chocolate is dark (60% or more cocoa) but even that (along w/ other sweets) should be eaten only in moderation. I would think that it is the processed sugar content in chocolate that is harmful, more than the pure chocolate itself. But I really don't know.

Here is a typical day for me:

Breakfast: Greenbeans with a scrambled egg and basil (if you want to use salt, use sea salt because it is not iodized)
- 5-minute oatmeal w/ cinnamon and a teaspoon of organic raw cane sugar
- apple

Lunch: Frozen bean burrito (Amy's brand, but I'm not sure they sell that in the UK), and a grapefruit

Snack: Baby carrots and tomato/basil hummus, 1/3 cup soy nuts

Dinner: Frozen chicken nuggets (free range) with marinara sauce and parmasan cheese (note. the parmasan cheese could be problematic for some people)
- salad (romaine lettice or other dark leafy greens) with tuscan italian dressing (although, i hear that what we call Italian dressing, you Brits call French dressing..???)
- an orange

Dessert: Slice of whole-wheat bread with natural peanut-butter (i.e. just the peanuts! no other gunk added!)
- plain organic yogurt w/ a teaspoon of vanilla extract, and frozen blueberries and/or strawberries mixed in............ yum!!!!

*Maybe about once a month I will have a giant ice cream cone... and maybe once a week I'll indulge in smaller amounts of other junk foods, like french fries (aka "chips"), cookies ("biscuits, digestives"), etc.

Hope this helps..... I'm sure there will be plenty of other ppl on here who disagree w/ me on lots of things, but this is what's been working for me!
The reason you might hear some conflicting advice with certain foods, is that everyone is different, so there are some foods to which we all react differently. The basic things, like fruits, vegetables, lots of water, etc. are generally good for all, though.

Cut back on simple carbs and sugars and when you do have them, have them with (or after) high fiber and high protein foods, never alone. Food combinations is what is behind all the slow carb methods as fiber, oil and protein slow the absorption of glucose by the body preventing blood sugar spikes. There are dozens of diet books on that.

And Chocolate does contain things that are very good for you. But it also contains sugar. Dark chocolate is best because it contains the most actual chocolate (cocoa) as opposed to milk chocolate which is watered down and white chocolate which isn't chocolate. Besides, Dark chocolate is best. Period. That doesn't mean you should eat too much of it. Have amounts like one square of a chocolate bar or those small bars they have in Belgium for after dinner.

I think viniagrette is a universal term. And it's a good thing to start a meal with. According to some slow carb books, the acidity as well as the oil starts certain digestive processes going that lower the glycemic index of the rest of the meal.

(I have a magazine article that cites several of the books. I haven't read any of them)
